VX2000 is SD DV, FX1 is HDV... I'd use the FX1 as it's as good as or better than the VX2000 in almost all respects.

I think 1.0 requires a fairly fast Intel CPU, and won't run on older AMD chips. I don't know much more than that since I've never used it.

The FX1 has a fake 24p mode that looks pretty crappy. If 24p is what you really want, then the FX7 is a better bet.

Could be anywhere from 1x to 100x, depending on how you shoot it. I normally expect about a 10x ratio for a low-budget shoot on DV, maybe 5-6x on film...
