Netflix Announces Post Technology Alliance to Help Filmmakers Prep Deliverables

As any filmmaker will attest, one of the biggest hurdles in the last mile to get a film project across the line is preparation of the deliverables. A multitude of formats are complicated by very exacting configuration requirements which can vary wildly between distributors and platforms.

Among the industry titans, Netflix is known for having very exacting requirements when it comes to deliverables. To help filmmakers make delivery operate more smoothly, Netflix has formed an alliance with a group or major manufacturers and software vendors to certify their products as meeting Netflix’s technical and delivery standards.

The certification covers four key product areas: cameras, editorial, colour grading, and IMF encoding. Technology partners include Adobe, Arri, Avid, Blackmagic Design, Canon, Colorfront, Fraunhofer IIS, Filmlight, Marquise Technologies, MTI Film, Ownzones, Panasonic, Red Digital Cinema, Rohde & Schwarz, and Sony.

A FAQ for product vendors is available at the Netflix Post Technology Alliance portal, and further details on the Alliance is available on the Netflix Tech Blog.
