"I have been taking courses at the UCLA Extension Department of Entertainmnet Studies and also directed a film as part of their now defunct year-long Short Fiction Film program. The courses are hit and miss. Some of the courses are worth it, while others are a waste of time. The fees for the courses are undecidedly less expensive than AFI (American Film Institute) and USC (University of Southern California). The Extension Porgram is currently however in my opinion suffering from bad administration, where the drive seems to enroll more students and less attention to the overall quality of the courses and the instructors. If you are a full time working professional seeking to expand your horizons, this may be a good option for you as the courses are held on evenings and weekends. It is also a good place to meet and network people with similar interests."

"No job placement assistance. Faculty picks star students and ignore the rest. find a school that will help you grow as an artist not ignore you! "

I earned an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA and this degree opens doors for me which otherwise would be shut. Why? Because UCLA screenwriting grads are successful. We learn how to craft a good story, and we're in contact with the industry, both on-campus and off. Finally, screenwriting students network with producers, directors, cinematographers, and animators, so we're never isolated from the business side of the industry. Write on!
