Yes, it’s true. We are creating a film event just for students. After spending several years programming, volunteering, judging, and staffing for other film festivals, we decided it was time to create our own shindig.
While putting together a plan, we all realized our favorite films over the years often came from student filmmakers. They may not have been the best edited nor had the best cinematography amongst all of the movies, but they regularly told more interesting an unique stories. Students are free to experiment and be true to the stories they want to tell.
For a film to be selected for The Wasatch Summer Film Bash, story must come first. It must entertain. After that, feel free to experiment. Play with lighting and editing. Explore new angles and dialog. Have fun with your storytelling.
