The SPACE (Southern Performance and Creative Energies) is a new and unique monthly networking event, bringing together a wide range of areas from the media and arts.
This is an opportunity for Brighton and southern-based people in the media and arts, seeking to climb the creative ladder, freelance or full time, wanting to create new contacts, or considering a career in these areas.
The aim is to connect people from all walks of life, and to generate inspiration, motivation and a connection with like-minded individuals wanting to pursue their chosen creative fields. There are guest speakers from a broad selection of the media, from broadcasting to the written word, and performing arts, from music of all genres to physical expression and virtually everything in between, such as design and photography.
The next event of The SPACE takes place on Wednesday, July 5, 7-10pm, and the guest speakers are Toby Whithouse, television writer, responsible for writing episodes of Doctor Who and No Angels, and Lucy Shuttleworth, from Brighton based film production company, The Spice Factory.
There’ll also be a raffle, with prizes including a Doctor Who DVD – featuring the School Reunion episode, written by Toby Whithouse.
It takes place at the Marlborough Theatre, Prince’s Street, opposite the Pavilion, £2.50 entrance fee, with free wine and nibbles.
Ultimately, the actual aim of this is for the attendees of the network to gain work, freelance or otherwise, in the media and other creative fields.
