The Road Junky Film Festival celebrates a revolution in media.
It’s a chance for independent film makers and travelers to come together and share their view of the world with cutting edge, subjective vision and a passion for travel and world culture.
It will be a three day festival showing 60 short films each no longer than five minutes, offering us new perspectives on our changing world and journeys within it that push the boundaries of what it means to explore.
Berlin is currently at the heart of the European alternative arts scene and draws talent from around the world in a melting pot of cultural influences and traditions. The bohemian atmosphere and central location make it a perfect location for travelers and artists to come together.
During the day there will be workshops on making and editing travel documentaries, photography and writing on the road, as well as presentations from travel writers and discussion groups based on issues and themes central to the travel experience. The evening’s films will be preceded by rounds of storytelling from travelers in the audience and we’ll close each night with a party featuring local swing bands.
In the spirit of the offbeat style of www.roadjunky.com, The Road Junky Film Festival is all about harnessing the spirit of the new media made possible by cheaper cameras and internet connectivity. No longer do we sit passively and watch the content produced for us by monolithic television channels – in the 21st century, the media is increasingly becoming us.
Accordingly, the films will be broadcast live each evening via internet streaming, allowing a large web audience to partake. Viewers will be able to comment as they watch the entries and will be asked to vote on their favourites, creating a truly interactive event.
