The First San Joaquin Film Festival, a project of the second season of SJCCM, will be a global festival taking place in the city of Stockton, California, U.S.A. from June 4 to June 8, 2008. Stockton is represented by over 75 ethnic and language groups, at the heart of the world’s breadbasket – the Central Valley. Retrospectively, the Stockton-San Joaquin region was a major filming destination and known in the 1960s as “Hollywood North.” Festival events and programs include an Opening Night Gala and Inaugural Celebration, international film competition and showcases, world premieres, local filmmakers showcase, specialized media symposia, young artists forum, local short films competition, and a Grand Finale awards ceremony. Venues include Opening Night at the historic Bob Hope (Fox California) Theatre, Grand Finale at Faye Spanos Concert Hall at University of the Pacific, a family festival at The Haggin Museum, and many other historic theaters and cultural institutions across the city, to be announced.
