The SFF London is the first London-based international film festival solely for student film. We aim to fill a crucial gap in the existing market for international competitive festivals featuring student works.
We hope to become a showcase for new talent as well as a vital instrument in the global development of film in the long term. Student Film Festival is a unique organization which aims to bring the best talent from international student film into the professional and public domain.
The idea for SFF grew out of a need to nurture young filmmakers by enabling them to practice their craft within a public and professional domain a crucial step following theory learned in the classroom.
At SFF we believe that education should empower individuals with the knowledge and attributes to succeed in life. The work of students should therefore be testimony to the success of schools, colleges and universities worldwide. We hope to create a healthy sense of competition that highlights the best of what the world of education has to offer film industries.
SFF London film screenings will be one of multiple opportunities for filmmakers to showcase their talent. Networking events, workshops, and mentorship awards will create space for professional guidance and cross-industry relationship building, sowing seeds for future development within the filmmaking industry.
We are now accepting film submissions. Entries should initially be submitted on PAL DVD only. Send this to the SFFL office along with the Submission Form before 30th November 2011:

Awards& Recognition
Prizes for award winners will be both monetary and non-monetary. SFFL hopes its range of generous cash awards from sponsors can be reinvested into talent and help to see the success of future filmmakers.
While financial support is crucial to young talent, we believe that budding film-makers can also increase their creative potential through educational and contact-making opportunities. Therefore prizes such as mentorship lunches, short-term internships and discounts to hiring film equipment will also yield long-run investment benefits for individuals breaking into the industry. Exact award details will be announced soon.
judging & voting
SFF aims to refine filmmaking skills by providing a reliable barometer of skill and talent. Students will no longer be judged by academics and unestablished authorities on film.
Our judging panel will be revealed in due course. It will include a comprehensive list of established filmmakers and critics. Craft awards will be judged by directors, cinematographers and composers.
For our Internet Popularity Award, the winner will be decided by audience viewership hits on online websites prior to the festival opening.
