You’ve heard about speed dating – you may even have participated – now prepare to apply its concepts to business, in an exclusive event organised by the Channel 4 IDEASFACTORY Creative Festival 2005.
Speed Networking is just one event during the two-week festival aimed at helping people get ahead in the creative industries. Funded by Screen West Midlands and in partnership with Broadcast and Broadcast Freelancer, it is open to creative professionals in the screen-based industries, from directors and editors to animators and composers, giving them the chance to interact and make vital contacts that might lead to a future collaboration.
This unique event aims to get people hoping to make a name for themselves in the film industry into the habit of networking, which is crucial in the creative industries.
The Speed Networking event is one of several during the festival based around the film industry. There will be screenings of the acclaimed music documentary DiG! and the directors cut of cult classic Donnie Darko, as well as an exclusive showcase from onedotzero, a digital creativity initiative exploring cutting edge film and animation.
The IDEASFACTORY Creative Festival is based at Birmingham’s Custard Factory and begins on October 17th. It includes a mixture of screenings, exclusive master classes, workshops and forums designed to demystify the creative industries.
The Speed Networking session takes place on Tuesday October 18th from 7pm at 52 Degrees North in Birmingham’s Arcadian Centre. Advance booking is essential. Visit the webpage at www.channel4.com/ideasfactorywestmidlands/creativefestival for more information.
