Book talk, slide show, and discussion

New York is a movie and TV town—film crews, location vans, and well-known actors are familiar sights. James Sanders, author of Scenes from the City: Filmmaking in New York (Rizzoli, 2006), will trace the evolution of filming in the city joined by Commissioner Katherine Oliver of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting, and Rob Striem, location manger on several recent “Made in NYâ€ films. He is currently co-location manager for I Am Legend, starring Will Smith, with Warner Brother Pictures. This program is part of the city-wide celebration of the 40th anniversary of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting.
