In February 2012, the Farnsworth Art Museum and The Strand Theatre in Rockland, Maine, will inaugurate a new series of short creative films entitled Rockland Shorts: An International Short Film Series. Beginning Friday, February 3rd, and continuing every other month in the spring (April 6th and June 1st), the series will be shown in The Strand and include an hour of short films selected from an open call to filmmakers. As part of the screening, select filmmakers and media artist included in the series will join in a discussion at the Strand in person or via skype for a conversation with the audience.
Filmmakers will be able to submit films for consideration via withoutabox.com. The direct link for submissions is available here. All entries will be no longer than 40 minutes and will be chosen solely on the quality of the material. Rockland Shorts will strive to show contemporary, questing, independent films that help define the digital generation without restriction of culture, format, formula or genre.
