Description

The Port Jefferson Documentary Series is a film series that began in 2005 and that runs twice yearly, fall and spring, in Port Jefferson and Stony Brook, Long Island, NY. Sponsored by the Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council, the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and by the Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs (SCOCA, we also collaborate with the Wang Center at Stony Brook University. Our screenings take place in a vintage, 400-seat theater on Main Street in Port Jefferson, New York and at Stony Brook University in a stunning building donated by Charles B. Wang with a 250-seat screening room. Our mission is to show the best, new documentaries to an audience that frequently does not get an opportunity to see films that just open briefly in NYC, the “best of the fests.” We screen our films followed by a Q&A with the director or another appropriate speaker so the audience gets a real insight into the making of the documentary
