The seventh edition of the LFF represents the consolidating of a social, economical and artistic project among the most interesting projects of the independent Cinema, and has become a talent scout. 6500 directors (with a public of around 50000) showed their works to the LFF in only 6 editions. The territory of Lucania, which is famous for the Sassi di Matera, Craco, the ghost city, the clayey canyons and the white town of Pisticci, is the main protagonist in the Kermesse/project. The community, the landscape and the whole territory make the LFF unique in its genre.
The Cinema lives with other artistic forms, which are completely parts of it. Video installations, performance Cinema, applied sounds, international competitions, with masters of Cinema who have lived in different contexts than the cinematographic studios, because the places of projection are the lands, the corn fields, the ruins of ghost cities or the Murgia and the Sassi di Matera, or simply the little houses of the farmers and the housewives. A new way of proposing the seventh art, not in its language but in its special capacity of entering every social level.
A lively perception of the stylistic forms and the contents of the audiovisual for an “easy†use. Music, images and new technology. Some of the most interesting and innovative international artists can apply music, video, sound design and electronic arts to a completely peculiar territory: the locations of Passion of Christ, Cristo si è fermato ad Eboli or il Vangelo secondo Matteo. A project in which deepening, experimentation and entertainment merge to bring new social, economical and artistic stimulus to the community. An active and passive use for the spectator who directly becomes user of the applications of the Cinema, of its authentic meaning of communication mean.
