DALLAS (April 29, 2005) Get beyond the illusion at the forth annual Industry Giants Computer Graphics and Animation Forum at Collin County Community College. The event takes place Saturday, July 9, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre on the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 East Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. A one-day masterclass for students and professionals will be held Friday, July 8, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in room C-104 on the Spring Creek Campus. Bobby Beck, President and CEO of the online animation school, AnimationMentor.com will lead the presentation.

Advance tickets for the Industry Giants forum are $10 for students and $15 for the general public. Tickets at the door will be $15 for students and $20 for the general public. Advance tickets for the masterclass, are $40 for students and $60 for professionals and include admission to the Industry Giants forum. Hosted annually by Collin County Community College’s Applied Graphics Design Technology department and the nonprofit animator’s group A Bunch of Short Guys, Industry Giants 2005: Frame by Frame includes individual presentations by industry professionals followed by a panel discussion on creative approaches and methods. The event features a distinctive lineup of speakers working in all areas of animation and special effects for film, television, gaming and interactive theme park rides. Guest speakers include Chris Williams, Senior Character Animator with Sony Pictures Imageworks, who worked on the Academy Award-winning Spider Man 2; four time Oscar nominee, David Bossert, Director with Disney Toon Studios; animator Sari Gennis, a founding member of Women in Animation; Stop Motion and 3-D Animator David Tart and Chris Olivia, an Animation Director with DNA Productions and pre-visualization specialist. Bobby Beck will join the panel discussion the day of the Forum, which will be led by Rita Street, Managing Director of Radar Cartoons.

The Applied Graphic Design Technology department at Collin County Community College is a graphic design and new media discipline within the Fine Arts division. Academic degree and certificate programs include: graphic design, 3D animation, digital video, multimedia, internet/web design and gaming animation. The fulltime faculty is joined by over two dozen associate faculty who bring current industry expertise into the classroom. A Bunch of Short Guys (ABOSG) is a non-profit organization that fosters education and career development for students and professionals in the animation and visual effects industry.
