Go Short is an annual new, refreshing film festival for European short films. The first edition took place in Nijmegen from the 18th until the 22nd of March 2009. It is a unique event in The Netherlands at which the audience is treated to short films, most of them made by young, talented filmmakers from all over Europe. The festival’s main location is the local multifunctional arthouse LUX.
Go Short shows a wide variation of short films; the festival’s main program contains seven competitions. Besides the European competition for short fiction films, short documentaries, short animation and short experimental, there’s a competition for Dutch shorts, an European competition for student films. This competition; Breaking Shorts is selected by the travelling student film festival Breaking Ground. Besides all competitions judged by professional jury’s, the audience decides which short wins the Audience Award.
Besides competitions, Go Short presents different focus programs and other out of competition programs.
