  • New York, NY, United States

Organization: Dance Films Association

Description

DFA’s Festival is the oldest dance film festival in the world that
sparked a global explosion of activity. Co-sponsored by the Film
Society of Lincoln Center since 1996, DOCF celebrates the immediacy,
energy, and mystery of dance as combined with the intimacy of film.
DFA’s 37th annual Dance On Camera Festival will be held January 7-16,
2009 at the Walter Reade Theater, Lincoln Center Plaza, 165 West 65th
Street, New York City, and other venues still to be announced. The
Dance On Camera Festival has toured to over 75 venues internationally.
DFA’s 2009 Festival overlaps with the annual conference of Association
of Performing Arts Presenters, January 9-13. Plan to come to NYC to
savor the wealth of dance on camera as well as meeting countless
artists, agents, and presenters.

What we are looking for: We seek strong synergies of dance and film,
whether it be a dance made for the camera, documentary, adaptation of
a stage work or site specific creation. We also welcome animation,
narratives, and works in which the kinetic energy and rhythmic design
comes solely from the editor or lighting designer. Dance films can be
driven from the prime perspective of dance, cinema, visual arts, or in
the case of documentaries, information. Our host venue prefers to
present only New York Premieres.

What we offer: Cash prize for Jury winner, Honorariums for filmmakers
involved with the Festival tour which included over 30 venues in 2007
Connections to Classic Art Showcase and Ovation channels
Feedback on your work, Workshops, Meet the Artist series, Receptions,
Education through our retrospectives
