Description

This year CWA is introducing a special project with university filmmakers and CWA writers in mind, the CWA Preferred Filmmaker Directory. The CWA Preferred Filmmaker Directory pairs the nation’s up-and-coming student filmmakers with winning screenwriters from CWA’s annual competition for the sole purpose of encouraging collaboration that leads to getting top quality projects produced. CWA selects the top screenwriters from our annual competition, however, all participating student directors selected to be in the Directory will be included at no charge. This opportunity is ideal not only for CWA writers looking to see their scripts produced, but student directors in need of first-rate material. Additionally, the Directory will be later promoted to several other companies we work with who are always on the lookout for new talent (LionsGate/Mandate, Icon Entertainment, Greenestreet, Inferno Entertainment, etc.).
How to apply:  University filmmakers should send a brief letter of interest, bio or resume, and a link where we can view a sample of their work. Please submit to: Heather Waters, CWA, Co-founder heather@creativeworldawards.com.  Once we’ve screened all the applicants, the Top 100 applicants will be invited to join the Directory along with the Top 100 winning screenwriters selected from our Creative World Short Film Awards in August 2011. University filmmakers and CWA writers will also receive the CWA Preferred Filmmaker Directory at no charge once the contest results are announced in December 2011.

Deadline:  All application materials must be received by May 15th.

Purpose:  To foster collaboration among the nation’s most promising screenwriters and student filmmakers.

We also have a flyer with more details.  Shoot me an email (corbin@creativeworldawards.com) if you have any further questions or you’d like to see the flyer.  We’ve worked with some of the top university film programs in the country, but we’re quite enthused to hear from all passionate film students with a desire to share their creative voice.
