This workshop is geared towards filmmakers and actors interested in learning cinematography essentials.
This will be a “hands-onâ€ workshop.
Participants will be asked to handle the equipment and assume roles on the production team.

What we will cover:
• Directing the Actor for the camera/shot
• Knowing your lighting equipment/knowing your camera
• Camera movement – Explanation of dollies, jibs and other creative ways to move the camera
• Shooting for the edit
• Defining and lighting for “moodâ€ – creating a feeling the audience can react to…
• Lighting instruments: Hard light/soft light
• Color temperature – what is it and why is it important

About the instructor:

Frank Siegel founded VCS video over 25 years ago. Over the years he has acted as a producer, director, director of photography, and editor. He has worked on productions large and small with crews ranging from one or two people to over 100. He work has taken him throughout the United States and occasionally outside the US. He has worked with Celebrities, sports figures, politicians, corporate executives, and more. His company has been recognized with over 60 national and international awards. Frank has taught production-related workshops for the International Television Association (MCAI), the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Calumet Photo, and various other media related organizations. Frank has consulted with The Art Institutes across the US on their curriculum development. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the South Jersey Cultural Alliance, an organization that assists over 120 arts organizations in Southern New Jersey.
