CINE-EAST is the free fringe festival of East End Film Festival, now in its eleventh year. 12 hours of FREE film screenings, workshops, talks, cinema trails and competitions saturating every venue and hidden corner of London’s East End. With the eyes of the world on East London in 2012, CINE-EAST Sunday will be an unstoppable cinematic invasion with an International, fully inclusive programme of cinema covering every genre from drama to documentary, animation to music
video.
Over 100 restaurants, bars, galleries, cinemas and cafes will play host to a series of short and feature film screenings, projections, live bands, interactive gaming, filmmaking competitions and site-specific installations making East London’s pavements pound with the sights and sounds of all things – FILM.
1000 films and events to see, 100 venues to visit; 1 day of completely FREE cinema.
This year’s festival boasts a great programme of events aimed at young people and aspiring filmmakers. Here are some examples:
Ideastore Whitechapel- 321 Whitechapel Road 12pm, 1pm, 2pm
Ideas Store Whitechapel presents a full day of activity starting with a selection of shorts from Paddington Arts: Bboyz: The next generation (6:02), Bboyz: The making of (2:59) “What about the children?†(4:29), followed by ‘Who’s my Neightbour?’ (40:06) produced by Loud Minority, finishing with Leyton College Student films “Our A-level Media and Extended Diploma Media students have produced their own interpretations of music promo videos and a variety of originally scripted fiction films and documentaries.†(86min)

The Crossway Foundation presents a day of film screenings curated by Fozia Khaliq from two of their educational projects: Arabia Offscreen and Adobe Youth Voices.
Arabia Offscreen was a creative expedition to Saudi Arabia. The films offer an alternative narrative on a fascinating yet little known Kingdom with a special focus on questioning cultural perceptions.
Adobe Youth Voices is a programme that uses cutting edge creative tools to empower youth in underserved communities. The films witness these youth taking action in their lives and communicating their stories to the world.
