The Capital Queer Film Festival is a community-based gay and lesbian film festival that has been running in Canberra since 2001. The festival involves public screening of a range of short and features films that have been produced by, or for, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The festival also includes a short-film competition with an emphasis on encouraging participation from film makers based in the local (Canberra) region and regional/rural areas as well as from young people.
