Blowin’ Up A Spot! Film Festival: A Woman’s Perspective premieres in Austin, TX for it’s 5th annual event: Thursday, April 27th – Sunday, April 30th, 2006. At the CARVER MUSEUM & CULTURAL CENTER. Submit your films today! THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE. This is a call for women filmmakers, musicians, actors, workshop presenters and poets to submit their work and perform. Submissions (postmark) deadline: March 1st, 2006. This event is funded in part by the City Of Austin and produced by the Media Arts & Literacy Institute of Texas.
There are 22 film slots and 10 showcase slots available and selected
performers and filmmakers will have a chance to win the Best Of The Fest. The winners will be compensated with travel and lodging expenses paid, placed on a Q&A feedback panel for their work and will also be featured in the Festival’s Celebration CD. All winners are picked by community selection.
The music showcase part is for emerging, up-and-coming unsigned performing artists and bands. Vocal performers may be a solo, duo, trio, quartet or an ensemble. Genres accepted include everything from Rock to Pop, Jazz to Country, Hip Hop, R&B, Latin, Blues, Folk to World and more.
The purpose of Blowin’ Up A Spot! Film Festival: A Woman’s Perspective is to increase the awareness of women’s artistic wizardry by showcasing women of various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. The mission is to create and sustain a vital marketplace for women as media makers. There will be four days of fabulous films, performances and industry workshops that are designed to showcase talented female individuals and groups from across Texas, the UnitedStates and the world.
