The Austin Film Festival is dedicated to furthering the art, craft, and business of writers and filmmakers and recognizing their contributions to film, television, and new media. The AFF holds a Screenplay and Teleplay Competition, as well as a Narrative and Documentary Film Competition. Each October, the AFF hosts an eight-day film festival. Over 100 films are screened during this event. The festival also includes a four-day Screenwriters’ Conference on October 20-23 that showcases the experience and expertise of internationally well-known writers, directors, producers, actors, and studio executives in over 70 panels, craft sessions, round tables, and other special events.
As some of our past attendants describe it, the Austin Film Festival is the “mother” of all screenwriting festivals. It is truly tailored to writers and the access provided to famous screenwriters is a true blessing for writers and aspiring writers. The names on our guest roster this year have grown to include Barry Levinson, Tommy Schlamme, Jessica Bendinger, Gary David Goldberg, Terry Rossio, and Garry Shandling.
There are no age restrictions for this event and all of our venues are handicap-accessible.
