With ‘9 Songs’ set on the front line of London’s thriving live gig scene, the Curzon Soho brings together two new documentaries looking at the recent explosion in live gigs in the capital. Featuring a host of bands that have given a much needed shot in the arm to rock n roll.
ARTROCKER (Robert Marshall, 25 min)
Islington’s Artrocker Club was set up a few years ago with a remit to promote the new rock n roll with a weekly free gig advertised through the Artrocker e-zine and website. This film looks at Paul & Tom’s inspiration for starting the club, and features incendiary performances and exclusive interviews from The Rocks, The Gin Palace, Kaito, Klang, and Bob Log III.
ROCKLANDS (Ben & Chris Blaine, 25 min)
The Paradise Bar in New Cross is South London’s answer to CBGBs, promoting a whole new scene of live music south of the river. Featuring live on the Paradise Bar stage: Bloc Party, Art Brut, and New Rhodes. Plus more exclusive interviews.
