looking for a song to use in short film that would suit a scene involving a card game. movie is of similiar style to lock stock, anyone qualified able to read this script and tell me their thoughts on it for free?
Thanks.
Sounds interesting. By song, do you mean a vocal/radio type number, or just a short section of music? Either way, I would be willing to give it a look.

probably just a short section of music would be better.
I don't know about the song, but I would love to read your script and offer any thoughts I have, though I'm not really qualified in any way other than I make movies.

Sounds like you want quite a ska sound. If everything fails concerning your own musical score why not use some music by The Clash, such as Police and Thieves. That's got the right easy-going aura to it and the original is even used in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

nah i dont want to use a song that is from lock stock at all. Like sure if i wanted the perfect song i could pick 'golden brown' from snatch or something but its so un original. Have to find something fresh, but same kinda music. Any more suggestions though Svelter?

Well, I still think that 'Police and Thieves' would be good. It's 6 minutes long in total so you'd have enough material to play around with and quite a lot of the song is guitar. The version used in 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' was by some soul-singer in Jamaica so I doubt anyone would notice anything concerning copying. I only realized because I know the lyrics to the song. You could wish around for more songs by The Clash though. They're a very strong, easy-going punk band so there should be lots of good songs to choose from.
I use 'Police and Thieves' as a song, as well as many other punk songs, in my new film 'The Anarchist Army'. I play it every now and then as a short interval thoughout the film. It's got the right laid back theme to it.

Having read the script I don't think it would matter whether the music has been used in another film or not. Seeing as though nearly the whole thing is narrated, in a Fight Club style, you could just add the ska bits 'Golden Brown' or 'Police and Thieves' in the background at a low volume so that it doesn't drown out the actor's narration. Be sure to post the finished film on putfile.com though so we can watch it and give you feedback.
But so far 'I am Jack's complete sense of satisfaction'.

Going Ska or Clash in this scene is almost cliche. Send me your script, but if you are looking for something a little punky while staying upbeat and fast maybe something along the lines of "Apply Some Pressure" by Maximo Park or something nice and slower and bluesy might fit like "Desperate Man" by The Black Keys
I would be happy to read your script. I'm not trying to brag, but I am normally able to listen to a piece of music and see where it would fit somewhere. Just tell me which scene to look for and I will definitely try to help you out!
