We are looking for a PUBLICIST / PR WHIZ to work on our independent film titled "Young Invincibles." It is a story about three young adults as they deal with sex, relationships and their jobs while living with the reality of cancer.
Who we are: We are a writer-director team currently located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina (but we have lived and worked both in LA and NYC). After a year of research, we recently finalized the script and are heading into pre-production for the film. We are in the process of creating a website to establish an on-line presence and we are beginning to seek out opportunities for funding. It is a long road ahead but we plan to shoot the film in the Fall and then submit the movie to film festivals and seek out distribution. We have both worked in the film industry for many years both in front of and behind the camera and we have some solid relationships within the industry that will help get the film the attention it deserves. Our goal for this film is to receive an Independent Spirit Award.
Who we are looking for: We want to work with someone who understands how to operate a PR campaign and has a basic understanding of the film industry. Grad students, new publicists, or veterans who would like to gain some experience are welcome to apply. Having a genuinely interest or passion in the story material is helpful (the young adult with cancer experience). Most importantly, we need someone who has a firm grasp on the how-to's of operating a PR campaign and are able to come up with ideas both in and out of the box.
How you will be involved: We would like you to work with us on fund raising, the filming process, festival submissions and seeking distribution. Initially, we need help with our press kit and how to package the film for various funding opportunities (ie, cancer organizations, private investors, fund drives, and independent production companies). From there, we need help generating and keeping a "buzz" going both during filming and post-production. Then, the main focus will be on marketing the film to independent film festivals and packaging it so it can be sold for distribution.
What is in it for you: Pay is negotiable. Ultimately, it depends on the amount of funds raised for the project. We believe that people should be paid for their hard work and we will do our best to make that happen. Equally important, you will receive credit on the film and the opportunity to run a PR campaign for what will be an award winning film. Finally, through this process, it will open doors for all of us to work on bigger projects either together or individually.
If you are interested, please contact us with any information you think is helpful in deciding whom to work with (resume, why you are interested, ideas that you have, etc). All reasonable emails will be responded to (this is craigslist after all). We look forward to hearing from you!
