Okay, so, first of all, thanks for reading this post. My name is Antti and I'm from Finland, but try to bear with my english.

Instead of offering my musical abilities like many other composers here do, my proposition is this:

I need someone who knows a bit about filming and maybe even has some experience of it. I'm making album (doesn't have a name yet) and I would like to use my music as driving force to that film. This is totally indie project, and I'd like to make it as experimental as possible. Some kind of rock musical (in style of Pink Floyd's "The Wall") but much more experimental. Maybe a short-movie with a real plot or just collection of beautiful clips around your country. It's totally up to you.

Theme is war and how it affects people's lives, most of inpiration drawn from religious conflicts in middle-east and USA's occupation of Iraq. You can listen three tracks from my upcoming album in this website: www.mikseri.net/aliip (I'm sorry that this whole website is in finnish but you'll only have to push "play" button for a song to start. Songs from this upcoming album are the ones named "Awakening", "Wither" and "And Then Came The Silence"). I know pretty much nothing of making movies so if you're interested I'd probably give you full control over what kind of movie you would like it to be. I don't care if you are from Sweden or America or India or whatever. All I want is you to make a good "musicvideo" for me. I can't offer you any money in return since I'm totally broke myself. But to me indie is not about money, it's about making art. And that's what I want you to do. And I don't expect you to use your own money in making this. Heck, it would be best if you could make this without using any money at all.

And of course, I would send you all the songs and lyrics so that you could use them. Total running time of the record is something like 33 minutes, but you can make your movie longer. You decide what kind of movie this will be.

Send email to judemoukari?hotmail.com if you get interested.

Quite expensive to do that. I agree that indie isn't about money, but making
a movie involves people and even when a filmmaker finds people willing to
work for free there are costs. If I could make a good "musicvideo" for you
without spending any money I would make one for you. I have always wanted
to make a rock musical in the style of "The Wall". I just can't afford to make it.

Well, I'm not expecting you to use cgi animations or any "real" war scenes. The whole point of the "movie" is to make people think.

This "movie" could be just about one person and few monologues. I don't need any professional actors or anything. I know few people who have filmed documents and stuff like that. And that didn't cost them anything. It's all about what you want to do, and how you want to do it. "Experimental" and "Rock musical" doesn't mean it'll have to be expensive. I'm not really looking for spectacle, but something more "real" and down-to-earth. Krzysztof Kielowski didn't have huge budget, he's movie "Short Movie About Killing" only features couple of actors and few lines of dialogue. The whole mood of the movie is done only by filtering the picture. That's cheap, but to me it works. And that kind of style is what I'm looking for. Cool filmscapes and different moods (One of the songs, "And Then Came The Silence" is basically based on this idea).

Oh, and one thing: could someone tell me other sites where I could ask people if they are interested in making this film? I tried to google and everything but I just can't find anything.

Excellent! Then you know people you can ask who can do this.
That's great news! I'm thinking that asking a few people you
know is better than asking strangers on a messageboard. They
know you, they know your work, you can be more directly involved.

Sorry I can't do this for you. I listened to your work and I just
don't see one person and a few monologues. I wasn't thinking
CGI or real war scenes either, just something creative and visually
complimentary to your music. But you know a few people who
have filmed documents and stuff like that so I think you should
work with them.

Good luck. I hope you return here when it's done. I would love to see it!

Well, the only problem is that those people that I know aren't really interested in working on something like this. I was also hoping that someone outside of my country of origin would take on this project. It would make things a lot more interesting.

Of course, if your vision is something that can't be done without big investments, it kind of puts the whole project on hold. I'm student, and after paying rent I have a bit over 100 euros for food every month. If I had loads of money I would of course spend some on this project, but that's only if at this point.

I understand. I am not talking about a big investment either. I'm only
pointing out that making a movie costs something. If I had loads of
money I would make this film for you, but just like you I have very
little left over after paying rent and other bills. If I had a little money
to spend on a movie for you I would do it. I suspect that most
filmmakers are in the same place as you and me. What little money
I have left over I use to make my movies. For me, even 100 euros
total is more than I can afford to spend for this.

Perhaps other filmmakers are the same as me. But maybe not. I
hope you find a filmmaker who can do this for you. I wish I could.
I see you found another forum and posted this. Maybe you'll find
the right filmmaker there.

I have a question: if you could do this the way you vision it, how much you would ask as a total investment?

Also, how could I be sure that once I pay I will get SOMETHING? Of course that's only question of trust and nothing else. But would you take money before-hand or after?

Also, it would be cool if you could show me something you have done (movies, short-movies, anything really), since at the moment you are the best candidate to making this happen.

I am not expecting you to pay anything. I was not asking for
money, I was pointing out that making a movie will cost
something. It might be unrealistic for you to ask someone
you don't know - and who doesn't know you - to spend money
to make a music video or short film for you to showcase your
music. I think it's a great idea and I like your work; my point
is only that making a movie costs money. Your offer will cost
a filmmaker money even thought you believe a good music
video can be made for no money.
