XL1 / MA-100 Audio Question

I have an XL1 audio question. I rented decent mics, a Sennheiser ME 66 w/ boom and two lavelier mics. I plan on plugging the mics into an MA-100 XLR adapter. My question is, the MA-100 accepts balanced XLR but converts the signal to an unbalanced stero mini, will there be any loss in audio quality? Has anyone used the ME 66, is it a good shotgun mic?

Any other suggestions to this type of setup would be greatly appreciated.

It's a great mic. Most good recordists use Sennheiser. I own the 66 and love it.

But you will lose a little quality and range when recording to your XL1. No matter what adapter you use, the sound always ends up going into the camera via the RCA inputs.

For the best sound, record to another source. DAT is - in my opinion - the best medium for recording sound for a low budget movie being shot on MiniDV
