what's the choice in film stock?

I know alot of very quality films and commercial have been done 16mm,
but what kind of film stock gives the most solid look and feel for that format? Have you seen the size of the stock #'s how do you keep reference of what stock dose what and to what degree?...you got give the DP's respect..so give some input...what do guys have to say?

even though a lot of film productions use 16mm they still transfer into Digital Footage and export it back to film. So the quality doesnt matter when you shoot with any kind of film i think. Its how it exports out which matters.
