hello all

iv been on film making.net for a couple of months now and all of you have been so helpful with giving advice and sharing your experiences.

i was just curious what film making is to you:

to me it is a hobbie, somthing to do in my free time. i am not looking to be a big hollywood movie director, i am soon going to Ravensbourne college to train as a camera man, to enter a career as a camera man, and film making is somthing i wanna do on the side.

to me the fun in it is finding super cheap ways to acoumplish semi profesional looking effects.

so what about the rest of you?:D?

This was the question that was the required admission essay to my university... I don't.. want to answer lest this is the case for you and we end up writing it for you XD

But think about this though, of all the elements of the American culture, what is the one thing 95% of all Americans talk about? What is the thing that can be an icebreaker? Movies. Everyone has a movie they hate or like or at least have seen a trailer for. Movies permeate our lives in ways most never realize. Its magical.

its always for me been a way to make people happy. when someone is feeling sad im not always the best at talking them out of it, but one of my films will always make them laugh. i just enjoy making people happy, and happen to be talented visually. logical chioce, i think.

There is nothing I would love more than to make a living directing feature films, and to keep doing that until I die. Film is just what I do. Even if I find no success in marketing myself and my work, I will always make movies.

I'm real green, but here is what filmmaking means to me:

I think it is about evoking an emotion/reaction from the viewer through the millions of variables that make up any given moment in a movie. Taking people to the darkest places you know they won't wanna go and taking them back to the best time in their life. It is being human to me and capturing that can be done in so many ways. Although, Here is where someone can tear a hole in my ideas... I believe all plots must have a message and a deeper meaning. I have a hard time sitting through films that are purely for entertainment, but that being said, they are equally as good as any other film and these are just my biased views. I think every single element in the movie should work towards a common goal of convaying your message (parasody). I suppose I put philosophy and meaning into all my ideas and I like to see other films that do that.

I wanna become a director that uses not only his or her ideas but other peoples ideas to create a film , i wanna use my ideas, and imagination to create a moral to the audiance and give the viewer a unforgetable experiance.
