hey guys,

if im shooting a conversation between 2 characters, i will shoot one scene with the camera facing the one character and re-do it aggain with the other character, but how could i match the audio since both audio will not be exactly the same. im plannin on using overlapping audio. i hope im making some sense here.. thanks

Hey the best way is to record the audio on another device (boom mike record to mini disc/cd/card or whatever) and then have a marker/clapper board, the CLICK of the board will help you match the sound to each take, thats the best way really. hope this helps.

My suggestion: (1) Catch the audio of the person facing the camera only. That way you don't have actors stepping on other actors lines making cutting together easier (2) Position the actor facing away from the camera so that their lips and jaw are hidden so that nobody can tell if they are sinced or not.

When you do that you should end up with two good dialogue tracks, one from each actor, which you can drop in and overlap as you cut back and forth.
