For my film i need a small amount of candy glass for one of my scenes. I have searched both the web and this forum for information. I have found more than enough recipes but my problem is they all contain corn syrup or Karo. Living in the UK we dont have this so i wondered what is special about it. I take it you cant make candy glass with golden or maple syrup. I read somewhere you can make corn syrup with a mixture of sugar, water and some other things.

Does anyone know how to make corn syrup, or is there a alternative. Any advice/help or links/recipes would be highly appreiated.

Golden Syrup and corn syrup are virtually the same thing - a thick
syrup made from sugar. One from cane sugar the other from corn
sugar. "Karo" is a brand name for corn syrup. Golden syrup is fine
for blood mixtures but because of it's amber color it might not work
for "candy glass" - I've never tried it for that.

If you dissolve a lot of sugar into water you will get the exact same
thing - a thick, clear syrup. It won't be corn syrup but it will be
thick and clear.

Silly question, but if you made a bowl out of candyglass (or a bottle for that matter) could you fill it with liquid or would the liquid start to dissolve the glass?
