Is it safe to use Iron III Chloride + potassium thiocyanate for movie special effects on an actor?
I know that these two components are often used for movies to create a blood effect, as both solutions are clear and only turn red upon contact reaction... however, I also know that when dissolved in water, iron(III) chloride undergoes hydrolysis and becomes an acidic and corrosive solution. Is it safe to have a aqueous solution of it on your skin and if so, how can one wash it off without it being dangerous?... how much do I have to dilute it?

Sorry, I'm still laughing a bit (nervously)
First, ideally this type of question should NOT be asked on an internet site/forum of any kind. If it has to do with safety, whether it's a special effect or stunt or firearms or anything else, find real live professionals and experts before you do anything that could hurt or kill someone.
Second, as wonderful as this site is, it really isn't the place for this kind of question. You seem to have a grasp on basic chemistry so you understand the risks enough to know that you should consult someone who is a professional in CHEMISTRY, NOT filmmaking.
And lastly, if you ever had any doubts about a special effect of any kind that might be used on an Actor, if you have any doubts about applying it to yourself, then never ever even think about applying it to someone else. But please, don't hurt yourself just to play guinea pig! No film is worth it. Really. Consult a professional if you have ANY questions or concerns before doing anything.
