I just wanted to ask if anybody knows of some good sound creating/editing equipment. I'd like a stand-alone piece of equipment with which I could use imported sound samples, or perhaps with its own samples, that I would be able to put together in different ways to create music and sound effects. Also with direct microphone input and either the ability to burn the files directly to a CD or maybe with output to another machine. I'm looking to be able to make some music for my film is all. If anybody has any idea of the name of a particular piece of equipment or the web site where one is sold, please let me know. Using computer software is the last thing I'd like to have to do. That is the main part of my question, however, I also wanted to ask if it seems I might be missing anything off my equipment list. This is just a list for any general film. If anyone can think of anything important I'm missing, please let me know as well.

- Video editing machine
- Camera
- Boom pole with microphone
- Tripod
- Sound editing machine
- DVD recorder (post-production)

Thanks,

For sound editing and music creation get Pro Tools. There are many different options of equipment to use with pro tools but the cheapest is the m-box and that runs around $700 i think. Pro Tools is everywhere, I mean if most of the big professionals use it then why not you? Pro Tools allows you to import your footage so you can do your entire audio mix to it. It works on both mac and pc so there are no worries there either. If you truly are serious about making a good audio mix this is what you should get.

What? $1000!! That's crazy talk!!
