I need help with prop making. More to the point, I need advice on making props. There are specific props I want to make and I don't know how best to make them in the time I have.

The first prop I need to make is a banner that is made from black fabric and that has white letters. My question is what material I may use for the letters, be it paint, more fabric, or whatever you suggest, and how I may go about finding it if it is at all obscure or seldom heard of.

I'll have more questions later, but for now I just need to know how to make this simple prop.

My advice would be to buy some cheap black material and take it to a college that teaches either art and design of fashion design as people with in either of these two subjects will be able to assist you in creating the letters in print, or even by cutting and stitching them to it for you.

Hope that helps, Cleary.

I did some research and apparently Fabric paint and stencils are my best guess. A stop by a local craft store should take care of it. Thanks anyway.

I'll ask again if I need more help.

I work at a print Shop. I recommend Vinyl lettering. You can get it in lots of colors. As far as the material...I would use Jupiter or Saturn. It is a tough out doors material. Black material is a lot more scarse then white though, may be more money.

Black fabric is not hard to find in my area, we have a lot of craft stores. And I know my parents have fabric paints I can use. I don't need it to look good, it just needs to get the job done.

I may be wrong but why are you asking this question if you already have the answer, are you just looking for someone to back you up. People are only trying to help so dismissing there ideas like this is a bit unappropirate.

'I don't need it to look good, it just needs to get the job done.'
Surely you want it to look good, you want it to be convincing not rushed. Little things like this can spoil a scene. What about taking pride in your work.

I got the answer after I started the thread, and also I'll probably need advice on other props in the future.
