ok so im in the middle of writing out my short film. However im at a block because i cant figure out how do do a head on mirror shot without the camera exposed. I want to make it to where when he brings his hands up with water to wash his face, i want his line of sight to pass through his fingers and into the mirror looking at himself. but no idea how.

Option A: Angle the mirror so the camera is out of frame. Then have a second set of hands move in front of the camera. Timing is important but it really shouldn't be all that difficult.

Option B: Shoot the hands in front of the camera using greenscreen and plop them in later.

Option C: Shoot FROM the mirror instead of bouncing off the mirror.

Option D: Disguise the camera so that it can actually be in frame and not really noticable. Perhaps if it were on a tripod behind the actor, and the background behind the camera was black and you covered the camera in black nylon or something you might be able to hide it.

Option E: Combination of Option B and D. You shoot the area without actor or anything first, then shoot Option D. Then use the background section from the first pass to matte out and hide the camera (which hopefully is only a small section of the frame)

Bonus points if its a long scene and you use all of the above to keep people guessing and make each cut somewhat short.

?size=12??/size=12?

well Im unable to disguise the camera because the background is more of an off white, like a bathroom...it would be too odd to change. Im thinking green screen maybe because then i could like you said, shoot the hands coming up first, then combine it to just the mirror, and then head on with the man. However ive never used green screen, and the only program ive used is final cut pro, and i never figured out how do overlay frames to combine them. Matting is all quite new to me.
