Ok, well, after thinking about it, I have come to the conclusion that shooting on 16mm is not practical and waaaaaay too expensive. So, I am now turning my attention to Mini DV. Could anyone suggest a Mini DV Camcorder that allows easy transfer to a computer via USB? Price range is around ?400-550.

Thanks,

Valrick

Dunno about USB, but a friend of mine has a cheap JVC camera with Firewire in and out, so if you just want to practice shooting and editing that might be a good choice: picture quality won't match the best DV cameras but shouldn't be too bad either. I don't know the model number, but AFAIR he paid about 350 pounds for it, so you could buy a PCI Firewire card too if you don't already have one and still be under 400 pounds.

If you need a camera to practice shooting and editing (but are not planned to sell or distribute the work) I would suggest any Canon camcorder.

With that price range, you can't really buy anything of very good quality. But if it's just for practice..
