Hi
I have a good condenser microphone and want to attach it to a boom pole.. are there kits for this sort of thing or will I end up having to buy a shotgun mic with pole? or maybe I could just bodge it? has anyone tried this.. thing is I dont think it will look very professional gaffa taping my mic to a pole ?:)?

We've been known to gaffer tape mikes to booms before :).
But ideally get a decent shotgun mike with a proper boom and attachment: unfortunately that will set you back about 1000 pounds. The sound will be better, and poor sound is one of the worst (and most common) faults in low-budget shooting.
the boom pole is not important as long as you have a good mic. you can make your own boom pole for less than $14 bucks. i don't think a condenser mic is good for the job. i bought one thinking it would do, but they usally don't have as much pick-up as the shotgun mics.
good luck.
thanx guys
I think that I might have to bodge it for a while as I havent budgeted enuf to cover ?1000.. I have been makin films for over a year now.. borrowin whatever I can and so far it has only really been the sound that has let me down.. I now have secured some funding but it is limited.. need to prioritise.. maybe I should leave something else out to be able to buy a proper mic?
I have an old dynamic ex BBC - AKG D130 - that was used for interviewing for radio...
What about second hand shotguns? I've noticed there is no audio kit in the toolshed..

I've seen used Senheisser 416s with accessories advertised for 500 quid or so. However, while mikes last a long time if handled properly, you'd want to give it a decent checkout before buying to ensure it's in good condition.
Not sure if it's still operating, but there was a site called something like bblist.co.uk which used to have a lot of pro audio gear ads.
Hi mark
Yeah site still up.. good selection.. cheerz jx
