Probably not: I think it's basically just a cut-down XL1 without interchangeable lenses and true manual audio control. I'm sure there's someone here who has a better idea of the differences.

I see, because someone recently told me that the xl1 is very close to HD. If the Gl1 is similar to the Xl1, would that mean that my Gl1 is close to HD?

It's a factor of two in each direction away from HD :).

DV is 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL), whereas HD goes up to 1920x1080. I think most current HD formats are 1440x1080, though, with anamorhic pixels.
