What types of insurance would I go by getting for an indie film? Some star actors maybe attached to film as well.

I'm not sure about America, but the minimum you generally want in the UK is public liability (e.g. if a passer-by trips over a cable and breaks their ankle) and employer liability (e.g. if your runner trips over a cable, goes flying out the window and is paralysed for life). With the infestation of lawyers in America I'd suspect you want even more :).

Obviously if you rent equipment you'll also want insurance for that.

Nearly every city has some kind of film board that gives out permits. They'll most likely have insurance as a requirement to get the permit and can tell you exactly what kind you need.
