I'd like to know how the lighting was done for the short film at the link above (an incredible short film imho). I have some ideas, but not sure. (If the link above does not work just go to google videos or youtube.com and search for "the black button")

I know in still 35mm photography I would achieve a heavenly white background by lighting the heck out of the background, filling it with as much illumination as I could, placing the model just in front of those lights, then illuminating the model with just enough light for modeling and exposure so that the model was very underexposed compared to the background. The camera exposure, to correctly expose the model, would have to open up the aperature (f-stop) and/or use a slower shutter speed, causing the background to be greatly overexposed and go even more intensely white. So I am thinking in a video is something similar done? Lower light on the actors, light the heck out of the bg, use a small f-stop like f2.8?

Well yes i am sure the walls and floor are painted white, if that is what you mean. But there are many gradations of white. You can film something white and depending on exposure it can appear dreamy white or even black. So what I am really asking is an exposure/lighting question, so as to get a dreamy white floor and walls and yet get proper exposure for the actors and furniture.

Says in the description that it was filmed on a stage in a school, and the white effect 'created on a computer'. Looks like some form of bleach bypass if you ask me.

Where are you seeing that? I can not find that anywhere on the page at the original link to the video?

'Our first professional short film. We made it for $200 and shot it on the stage of our old school. Fortunately, professional actor Robert Grubb agreed to act in it for free after reading the script. This film took nearly a year to put together, working on it in stages and creating the 'white' effect on a home PC. Please note that the younger actor, unlike Robert Grubb, has no formal acting training whatsoever.

It's on the youtube description the link redirects to

I was glad to hear it took a year. A 19 year old neighbor asked what the big deal was about making "just a short film" when I explained it is a lot of work, so many logistics involved. I wanted to slap him I swear. Even a short film takes lots of planning, finding actors, locations, crew, storyboarding, shotlist script, pre, post, etc etc. Some people I swear think a 5 minute short film takes all of an hour total to produce.
