Any suggestions for making moonlight? The scene is simply a few guys talking out in the woods the only light being the moonlight.

I have a 350 and a tota and some blue gel, I was thinkin about usin the tota high with the gel and the 350, also w/gel, lower to get rid of some shadows but I wanted to see if anyone had any good ways to imitate moonlight?

thanks, guys

Dean,

I think you would be better off shooting day for night rather than try to light a forest with two flashlights (basically). You simply don't have the tools necessary to achieve much of a shot beyond a Close Up or insert shot. Unless you want your background to be pitch black. 🙂

Just my opinion...

A few years ago we shot a guy walking through the forest using just a big-ass battery light and natural moonlight. From what I remember I white-balanced the camera on an orange street-light to give it a blue look, and it came out OK.

Not really an ideal solution, though, we didn't have much time to think about beter ways and that was the only light we had available.
