How to achieve bird's-eye-view ceiling shot

I don't know if this will help but we had a similar experience on a movie we shot over two years ago. We duct taped the camera (I know, but it didnt hurt the camera) to the tripod and then lift the tripod by the legs and slowly walking (trucking it) slowly and steadily this may help.

did you want it to be static shot or over head dolly like in evil dead.??

If static get a ladder and hold the camcorda just below it so the ladders out of frame.

Or

As in evil dead they got 2 ladders put a blank across it covered in tape and then vasline for smoothness and slide the camcorda across it.
