I'm in love with the following shot

http://home.comcast.net/?earendil18/WDShot2.avi
(Note: It requires a fairly recent version of the Xvid codec view)

How can I recreate this odd stretching, warping,....zoom? What is going on here? It's a very short clip sorry, but if you want to see the whole movie it's called Wonderful Days and it's Korean.

Any input would be appreciated thanks!

i think the camera is just moving to the right and zooming out as the vehicle accelerates extremely fast.
The reason the background warps is due to the parallax effect, the distance between the background the vehicle and you change so rapidly that your eyes don't compensate enough so it looks a little weird.

zoom-dollys look similar, you dolly out as you zoom in or zoom out as you dolly in, shifting the background. I'm sure you get the same effect if you dolly out fast at the same time as zooming in slowly (or is it the other way round), that way you'd still be going backwards but you'd get a weird background shift.

Thanks, I'll have to try that once I get a dolly. I hope my camera can zoom fast enough. 🙂

It's a really neat shot I think.
