I am making a film which is in the style of WWII film. (think Saving Private Ryan.) It is going to be called Cold War because it will all involve snowballs. Now I am looking for a good mic to record sounds, (I am a foley artist) and dialoge. I need someway to propel the snow balls. (Compressed air or fire extenguishers?) And I was also wondering if someone could help me with writing dialoge. I have all my camera angles and effects planned out already. I am looking for dramatic "storming Omaha Beach" or walking down a street and all of a sudded and mortar round goes off near you. NO LANGUAGE. Sorry for my poor spelling. I have a camera and Adobe Premiere PRO. (Lots of lawns mowed for that) Thanks for any help.
Could anyone help me?
There are three main suppliers of shotgun mics:

Sennheiser is the mic most used by professional sound recordists. They are expensive and worth it. Check out the ME-66 and the ME-67.

Audio-Technica makes great mic?s and they?re cheaper. Check out the AT835b.

I?ve never used Azden mic?s. They?re inexpensive but I?ve don?t hear too many good things about them.
A good mic is an investment. It will last longer than your camera - why skimp?
Compressed air sounds like it would work just fine.
