I've been asked by my company to research replacements for the JVC GY-HD101 as they've been unhappy with the results. At the moment the only camera that comes to mind of a similar standard and features is the Canon XL2 or XLH1. As I know very little about HDV I was hoping I could get some recommendations.
The features that we're looking for are:
- Interchangable lenses
- True 16:9
- 3CCDs
- 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 sampling format
any information you can give about the cameras you recommend would be appreciated as well and any personal experiences of the XL2's and how well they perform would be great.
I think the XLH1 is your only option, otherwise you'd have to move up to XDCAM HD (basically HDV's big brother, recording MPEG-2 to optical disks at higher bit-rates).
Hey
You can look at the Panasonic 100a or 100b - Panasonics answer to the sony HFX range.
