Do you need permission to wear a store bought Halloween mask in a movie? I was told by one filmmaker you don't, but then another filmmaker told me you do.
The filmmaker who said you don't need permission said it's okay as long as you stick to the following 2 rules:
1. Your actor just plays a character wearing the mask for Halloween, and doesn't actually play the character of the mask.
2. There are no visible company symbols on the mask (like for example you're allowed to wear a Nike shirt in a movie without permission, just as long as the actual Nike symbol is not visible), because by dictionary definition all masks are just pieces of clothing.
