Hello all
I?m shooting some force perspective footage in the new year for an art commission, (basically I have to make someone look 36ft tall)
So my questions are two fold, I am using the Canon XF 105, the manual advises not to shoot above f8 due to diffraction. As I?ll need to shoot at about f22 I was wondering if there is anyway to reduce this break up of the image?
Or
Would something like the Canon 5d Mark II with a decent lens cope better with this?
Thanks in advance.
Brian
I recommend that you post this question at www.cinematography.com and www.cinematography.net.

The short answer is that if the camera/lens package you have isn't of sufficient quality to deliver the required images, then you have to change the lens and/or the camera. Ideally, with any visual effect, you use the highest resolution you can afford or live with the consequences of not. The camera you mention is 4:2:2, which is pretty good for most circumstances, but ideally, you'll want uncompressed 4:4:4 or 4K capture PLUS the highest quality PRIME lens you can get a hold of. Avoid zoom lenses, especially for visual effects shots.
I'm not an expert on resolution and lens specs so those links about will put in you touch with people who are and can recommend what you SHOULD use.
