How would I focus a zoomed in lens? I can imagine that the image medium (video or film) is irrelevant, but I am shooting on Super8 film. If I zoom the camera in, do I keep the camera focused for the distance from camera to subject, or is there some complex formula I should memorize?
Thank you!

Assuming it's a decent zoom lens, the focus should stay the same throughout the zoom range. It's a long time since I've shot much super-8, so I'm not sure how good the lenses were on those cameras... I think I normally focussed manually through the viewfinder and only used the distance meter as a backup.
