I have to shoot a scene with actors playing and a tv turned on.
It?s important to have sync lips and no troubles with the tv image.
The film is set for 24fps projection, but the tv is playing at 29,97fps - the tv?s sound is very important, I can?t miss it, but also the actors? lines.
It?s very close to a chess game, isn?t it????

Use an LCD screen. You won't have any syncing issues, no bars running through your frames, and you won't have to worry about 24 frame video, film video synchronizers or any of the other expensive stuff that you may already have been told about. Just shoot and shoot. Remember to set your light levels based on the light levels of your monitor and overexpose those by 1/2 a stop. In other words, read the monitor with a spot meter on some middle grey somewhere in the video. Then overexpose that by 1/2 stop (because most light meters are not set up to read screens well and will give you an inaccurate stop). Use this level to set your shooting stop on the lens and determine your key and fill. You'll probably find your shooting stop is somewhere around t/2.8 at 500 ASA at 24fps. Good luck.

"On a good gate, that's a wrap."
