Filming Solitary Confienment

How can i film solitary confienment, its where a prisoner is in total darkness(my problem). I am filming in a 8* 10 size area, and need help with lighting..etc.Is it possible.

If you ask me, thats more of an artistic question than a technical question. Sure, you could just have him sitting in a room with low-light, or flickery overhead flourecents. But it could be much more interesting if you found a creative way to do it. Like do it from his perspective, or whats going on in his mind or something, i dont know.

Clearly you can't shoot in total darkness.

So you have to take some creative license - decide on a light source and use that.

When in doubt I always say look to your elders for inspiration. Look at the movies Shawshank Redemption and Murder in the First. Both have solitary scenes that are lit well and still seem authentic.
